LOTO Safety Basics

This Module is designed to equip you with the essential knowledge and skills to Safely isolate hazardous Energy sources in the workplace. you will learn the fundamentals of Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures and how to apply them effectively to various types of Equipment and Energy sources.

  • Understanding the importance of LOTO in preventing workplace accidents and protecting workers from injury.
  • Mastering the six key steps of LOTO procedures: Preparation, Shutdown, Isolation, Lockout/Tagout, Verification of Isolation, and Re-energization.
  • Identifying and controlling different types of hazardous energy, including electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, chemical, and thermal energy.
  • Selecting and inspecting the appropriate lockout devices and tags for specific applications.
  • Implementing LOTO procedures during testing and commissioning activities.
  • Understanding the roles and responsibilities of authorized workers, affected workers, other workers, and supervisors in the LOTO process.
