Access Control Systems

Description

This module provides a comprehensive overview of Access Control Systems Engineering and its implementation in modern construction and infrastructure projects.

The training covers the fundamental principles of access control systems, including system architecture, device components, credential technologies, and system integration with other building security systems.

Participants will gain both theoretical understanding and practical knowledge covering system design, cable installation practices, device installation standards, controller configuration, workstation verification, and testing procedures.

The training focuses on real project execution, ensuring that engineers understand how access control systems are designed, installed, configured, tested, and commissioned according to project specifications and international standards.

What You Will Gain

• Comprehensive understanding of Access Control System fundamentals and architecture

• Knowledge of different access control technologies including card-based, biometric, PIN-based, and mobile credentials

• Understanding of system design workflow including door identification, device selection, and controller architecture planning

• Knowledge of project documentation and references such as specifications, shop drawings, and ITP requirements

• Practical understanding of site installation standards and best practices

• Technical knowledge of system integration with CCTV, Fire Alarm, Elevator Control, and BMS

• Understanding of pre-commissioning checks and commissioning procedures

• Awareness of workstation verification and badging workstation testing

Skills You Will Develop

• Understand access control system architecture and components

• Interpret system layouts, riser diagrams, and design documentation

• Select appropriate access control devices based on project requirements
